{"id":700,"date":"2010-09-09T16:55:48","date_gmt":"2010-09-10T00:55:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/technofovea.com\/blog\/?p=700"},"modified":"2010-09-09T16:55:48","modified_gmt":"2010-09-10T00:55:48","slug":"hl2parse-fgds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/technofovea.com\/blog\/archives\/700","title":{"rendered":"Hl2parse &#038; FGDs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently someone asked if they could use my FGD-parsing code, so I&#8217;m working on re-organizing the <a href=\"http:\/\/technofovea.com\/blog\/projects\/hl2parse\">Hl2Parse<\/a> code-base.<\/p>\n<p>What I&#8217;d like to do is release it as a series of connected Maven modules to avoid burdening anybody with unnecessary dependencies. For example, someone who &#8220;just&#8221; wants to parse an MDL file doesn&#8217;t need to pull in all the dependencies (like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antlr.org\/\">ANTLR<\/a>) that would be involved in FGD parsing.<\/p>\n<p>So the modules would probably be something like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Text-parsers (VDF\/FGD)<\/li>\n<li>Data representation (VDF\/FGD classes, used by all other modules)<\/li>\n<li>Model binary parsing (MDL, PHY)<\/li>\n<li>Map binary parsing\u00c2\u00a0(BSP)<\/li>\n<li>ClientRegistry.blob binary\u00c2\u00a0parsing<\/li>\n<li>Higher-level utilities for soundscapes, materials, and comparing FGDs against map-entity data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The emphasis, however, is just on the FGD stuff for now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently someone asked if they could use my FGD-parsing code, so I&#8217;m working on re-organizing the Hl2Parse code-base.
