It’s been a while, but I’m still plugging away at PackBSP… generally during my lunch-time at work. Since my previous post, I’ve talked with some end-users and re-evaluated my approach to collisions. While my previous tactic was “WYSIWYG from testing”, I’ve been convinced to put more weight on mappers needing to re-pack and tweak the packed contents of a map several times before release.
So the picture’s a bit old, but if I’m treating this as a development log then a “thousand-words” is probably worth posting. This approach should allow mappers to overwrite prior pack-jobs with updated copies of models and sounds etc, while still handling the WVT-Patch problem and guarding against buggy replacements of “stock” content.
